Phase One Test
« on: September 12, 2013, 09:57:32 am »

I will be going to a Capture One user group in Philly tonight and will have access to shoot with an IQ260 and IQ280.  I plan on bringing my tech camera and P45+ to shoot some test images.

First, I plan on using my SK 35mm, shifting it 12mm over and up enough to get the corner outside of the images circle.  I will be shooting an image with each back to test the lens cast and how it effects the images.  I will try to find a colorful area to do this, but I will be at a camera store, so this may not be an option.

Second, I plan on shooting the IQ260 in ISO 50 and long exposure mode to see at which point the LEM becomes better.  I plan on bring some ND filters and a the Capture Group multi-shot device, allowing me to manually control the length of the exposure.  Meaning that if the exposure is 10 seconds, I can capture an actual 10 sec exposure, but keep the sensor active for a longer period of time.

Any other test people would like to see?

I'll place bets the Schneider 35 won't play well with the IQ280 on a tech camera.

The 35sk won't work well past about 8mm of shift on the 260.
And will be worse on the 280.  It will be interesting to see your long exposure results.  Remember the 260 has the Ambient temp restrictions as the P45+.  69 degrees F or lower for 1hour and in my use with the p45+ really true for anything longer than 30 min if you high humidity.

I'd be extremely interested in a nighttime 15 second ISO400 shot with the 260.

A lot to ask I know, but TIA if you do manage it!

Kind regards,

Gerald.

Just PM'd you a link to two raw files shot at night with an IQ260:
ISO400 at 6 seconds with long exposure mode
ISO800 at 4 seconds with long exposure mode and sensor+

Both were done with early firmware on a prototype back, so things have improved modestly (I don't have any nightime-long-exposure-mid-ISO frames with the new firmware that are photographically interesting) but it should give you a rough idea if this combination is useful.

Ditto what Paul said, the SK35 does NOT play well with the 80mp backs (or vice versa) and you can get maybe 8-10mm shift with the 60mp backs.  Both of those backs have physically larger sensors than the P45+, so you'll be pushing the SK35 to the edges of it's image circle with far less shift.

Thanks Doug - much appreciated.
