One big note - you rightfully mention using CUDA but one thing you might not be aware of, is that NVIDIA gimped CUDA for processing in the previous generation of cards.  Current 6xx and 7xx Kepler based cards are almost useless for CUDA work.  To get a big bump in productivity you must be using a good 5xx series card such as a 560ti, 570 or 580 or workstation models.  NVIDIA completely changed the processing architecture towards games only, and processing applications are no longer priority at all.  It sucks, because the 5xx series of cards are LOUD, power hungry and way behind on actual graphical power.  But for video work it's 3x+ faster than anything else.  6xx series are little better than CPU only, so it doesn't matter what MacBook Pro you have.
