Keeping detail/colour in reds without blowing the channel
« on: September 10, 2013, 11:26:59 am »

As the title states, I'm having a helluva time with this. I'm experimenting with layering detailed yet desaturated photos over the more-so saturated (not super saturated) photos, but I feel like there must be a way to do this within Lightroom.

I know that colours all have a relationship, so tweaking other colours' saturation/hue/luminosity can affect the perception of red, but I was wondering what everyone else is doing to preserve details in the red channel without losing vibrancy (while still not making things look too garish).

Thanks for your input.

p.s. I've researched this, but I mostly find people asking how to stop the red channel from blowing. I'm beyond that. Exposing to the right is already a technique I employ.
