This is the view from the house at the top of the hill (see my last post here).



A little hazy that day, but wow were the clouds doing their thing. I couldn't pass up the shot.

This monochrome version seems to avoid bringing attention to the line of haze, but I don't think it's as interesting.

The black and white is indeed not as interesting, but that's because you've not done anything to make it so. It's merely a default conversion, and b&w is more than just turning off the colours. Darken how the blues are rendered and you'll see more cloud detail and a darker sky which nudges the eye down into the scene, and lighten the yellows/greens to bring more life to the landscape.

I'm with John about the B&W photo. The color photo is a bit too hazy, as you mention. I would suggest that you reprocess the B&W shot.
