Overprocessed...not to my eye.  Would like to see the shadows brought up somewhat.

It's not the first thing (overprocessing) that comes to my mind and, in fact, I don't think it's overprocessed at all. It's a very fine image...

A bit dark...unless that's what you were after. But no, doesn't come across as overprocessed.

I agree with the others. If that is your "vision" then there isn't anything wrong with it. I like it. :)

It's hard to say without seeing the original unprocessed image.

Obviously, any sense of reality has been removed from the image - impossible to tell how much was done at the time of exposure and how much by post-exposure processing.

If you obtained the effect you were looking for, it is a success.

Personally I love it as a semi-abstract image.

Well done. What I love about this image is that you can make some very nice vertical compositions from it also. And some different horizontals as well. That may be a good test for a good abstract benchmark.

Would you agree if there weren't any detail to be seen? Quite often I see this remark posted about images. If you had previous access to the original and had the chance to lighten the shadows and seen the detail, but the owner of the file decided against lightening the shadows then you have a point. The shadows add contrast to the image and that is - imo - important for this kind of image?

Many thanks for all the feedback. Here's the original for comparison.

Looks good. No, it's not looking overprocessed at all. I'm guessing contrast boost led to the dark areas? A bit more luminance at the darkest levels might work.

My newest infatuation is an initial global curve pull-down near the centre. Keeps the highlights but darkens and saturates the midtones.

Isaac: I am surprised how hard it is to find level in these kinds of pictures, as per the discussion elsewhere on the forum.
