Hello experts.

I am working on a project that will be for web page display only.  I am working in LR5 and I have an NEC PA271 monitor that is currently profiled and calibrated to its full color gamut.

I have edited one file and exported it as an sRGB jpeg, and subsequently uploaded that jpg to my SmugMug account to get a sense of how the images will look on the internet.

I see a slight increase in saturation and warmth when viewed on my wife's monitor (a garden variety Viewsonic) and on my iPad, not bad, but just different from my LR5 view on the NEC.
Here's my question.  Would I be better off for this project to recalibrate my NEC to sRGB emulation mode?  Would that provide me a better match for what most people will be seeing on web sites on the "average" computer?

Thanks in advance for any advice on this.  This is my first venture with images processed specifically for web display.

Yes, that's exactly what it is for.

Andrew,

I was hoping you'd respond.  Thank you.  Is it safe for me to assume that my preferred luminance value should be used in the calibration run?

Doesn't matter in so much that all you are doing is aiming for the board side of a smaller barn by bypassing the wide gamut behavior that so few can access. IOW, if we had a magic switch where everyone was using a wide gamut display roughly behaving as they do today, you could post Adobe RGB (1998) on the web and sRGB would look fugly. Using sRGB emulation and an excellent appearing image doesn't guarantee others see it that way. But it is closer to the middle of that barn.

Andrew,

Thanks, once again.  Genuinely appreciated.
