Manitoulin 2
« on: August 04, 2013, 09:32:16 pm »

A few more from the quiet isle - this selection with more colour. To be honest, except for one waterfall, a few significant bluffs and parts of coastline, Manitoulin is not an overly dramatic place. Despite enjoying my time there, I found it difficult to be motivated by "bland" landscapes. I know, I know, the dramatic places almost set themselves up with photographs and a good photographer will get a great shot in a bland environment, but I think it will take me another trip up there to capture what I'm looking for - that quintessential view that captures the essence of the land. These will have to suffice..

Terry - I'm not so sure about bland landscapes but maybe bland light.  I often find it difficult to be in the right place at the right time when traveling with the family on vacation.  Best not to be disappointed and enjoy being there.  Now if I could just follow my own advice.

The first one is my favorite. The others are quite nice, too.

I like them. All four. But my favourites are the two first.

That's it, exactly. A "quiet" landscape is much better way of expressing it than bland. And, yes, it is very difficult to produce and exciting photo when I'm not as excited by the landscape itself. Thanks for your comments, Isaac.

These are quite lovely "quiet" landscapes (not at all "bland", IMHO.)
The first one Is my favorite: the interplay of the lines and directions really make the composition.
