Are they actually erratics?

Without a fresh surface it's difficult to see any difference with the country rock.

What is an erratic?

Erratics are rocks that are out of place with the local geology, and usually indicate past passage by a glacier. The glacier picks up rock as it scours the underlying geology, then deposits some of that rock at later stages in its path. Once the glacier has melted, you get left with rocks that seemingly have no relationship with the surrounding geology.
