After receiving only 1 response (and subsequently another) to my query about Manitoulin, I promised to post some images from our exploratory trip.

What a wonderful place! No franchises anywhere on the island and no traffic lights. It i an island of rural hay farms, hunt camps, shorelines and limestone escarpments (a continuation of the Niagara Escarpment and what ever they call it in the Green Bay, WI area). One can stand at the top of a bluff and see nothing but forest and lakes for as far as the eye can see. And the alvars are an amazing lesson in ecology and resilience.
