New backs in Hy6/AFi Mount
« on: July 31, 2013, 05:25:08 pm »

I want to change my 33 MPx back, but not my Artec Camera.
Seems as if the Hy6/AFi Mount is discontinued, or there are still new backs with this mount?

Hi Michael, we make 2 types of back in Hy6/ AFi mount:

The Leaf Credo which is available in 60MP and 80MP

And the Leaf AFi-II which is available in 56MP and 80MP

They utilise similar sensor technology, however the Credo as the newer one offers a high-resolution touch screen with fast processing, longer exposure times and slightly higher DR

The AFi-II on the other hand offers a tilt screen and a rotating sensor

So you have several options there. If you'd like to see and test them let me know and I will hook you up with someone in Germany

Hope this helps

Thanks,

on the Artec you need a rotating back, so the Credo is no otion.
The Aptus 40MP is not really better, the 80MP is not recommanded for Wideangle use, so the Aptus 10 is the only back for my camera?

I don`t want to change to DSLR, but is there really only one option?

Hi Michael,

The 80MP (AFi-II 12 or Credo 80) work fine with the Rodenstocks although the 23mm and 28mm with their small-ish image circle do not allow for a lot of movement

The Credo uses the 4-pin interface similar to your Sinar back so it can be removed and re-mounted vertically/ horizontally quite easily

Either way the AFi-II 10 is an excellent choice I think and is the most affordable of all of them

Best

I believe Sinar has an adapter to rotate (their) backs on the AFi/Hy6 platform. Whilst it's not internally rotating, it should do the trick if higher resolution backs are available. With the arTec being a Sinar system, one would assume they'd work flawlessly together.

That said, you'd have to adjust your current workflow as I believe you have to tether to CaptureShop or whatever Sinar's solution is.

IF you tend to shoot tethered and IF the eXact is available in an Hy6 mount, you can get 192MP images (four shot captures) - with the added bonus of them being captured on a smaller sensor, so you won't run into the 23/38mm movement issue.

Newer Sinar backs don`t have a screen, only tethered shooting is possible.
They are made only for studio and reproduction use.
So this is no option for architectural photography..

As Yair suggested, the AFi-ii 10 might be a good choice for your purpose since it has a slightly wider sensor (okay only like 2.5 more mm but that last little bit can make the difference when you can fit it all in to the frame or not) and that the slightly larger sensor pitch has a little less color cast issues and maybe you can stop down a bit more without seeing diffraction.  The downside to the 10 (at least for me)  is the 3::2 ratio.  I have the 12 and really like it a lot, but don't use it on the X-Act2 often with wides.
