Maintenance Cartridge Issues
« on: July 23, 2013, 07:41:12 pm »

Hello all.  I started to get a message telling me my maintenance cartridge was almost full and to prepare to replace it.  I was reading on the Canon Wiki about doing your own manual cleaning of old MC and resetting machine to start brand new again.  I noticed when I pulled out the MC that only the first area of pads is really saturated and heavy.  The end of the MC is very light and looks as if no ink is even on those white pads.  Why is this?  Can I just reset machine and continue using this MC due to there being a lot of room available to still soak up wasted ink?

I'm not sure about your Canon, but on my Epsons, I'd go ahead and change the tampon to keep everything nice, clean, and fresh.  It's not difficult to reset and replace the wadding, but I'd hate to see the mess caused by resetting the maintenance chip and not replacing the tampon just to save a couple bucks....

You can reset the Canon maintenance cart, but you can only do it before it shows full.  Instructions are on the Canon Wiki.

Is it easy to replace the MC chip on the Epson 3880, if so, how do you go about it please.
Thanks

Jeeze, a 3880 maintenance cartridge is under twenty bucks, just replace it already.

Wow is my Canon MC was that cheap, I wouldn't be posting this question. HA!  $100+ for mine!
