They just put everything they currently offer (13 plug-ins/apps) into the new Topaz Complete Collection.

Does Topaz work with CS6.  On the site you reference it says photoshop 7 - CS4...

Yes. I'm on CS6 and use most of the Topaz plugins without problems.

Cheers,
Bart

Yes Bart, I was using it in CS6 last night no problem. Which page has the out of date system info, mine or theirs?

Thanks Rory, that's my bad. When it comes to software specs I've learned it's best to link to the developers' pages since it changes so often... I'll fix that shortly.

BTW, Topaz offers 30-day trials so anyone can easily test compatibility.

Topaz users: Do you find that DeNoise gives better results than what is available in LR4 or CS6? How does it compare with Nik DFine 2?  Is the Topaz InFocus deconvolution program worthwhile?

I am familiar mostly with LR4 (haven't updated to LR5 due to need to update OS). I am just getting started with Ps CS6. My knowledge of plug-ins, other than Nik HDR Pro, is nil.

Nancy, download the DeNoise demo and test it against whatever you are currently using (and get demos of any other plug-ins you don't already have and wish to test). Best to do these tests yourself on your own images.

I have both DeNoise and DFine, but my preferred noise reduction plugin is Noiseware.

InFocus is very good for capture sharpening, which is my primary use for it. It takes some experimentation to get a feel for its settings.

I haven't tried Nik DFine, but last year when I did a comparison with Topaz DeNoise and LR and PS and Noiseware, Topaz was clearly ahead, especially for high iso images from a Canon 5d II. After some experimenting, I've set up presets for the 5DII for iso 1600 and above.
That said, often I just need a bit of quick and easy noise reduction on a selection, and I tend to use Noiseware for that.

I've been using Topaz deNoise in CS5 and more recently in CS6 with no problems. I have not compared it (other than the interface) to other plug-ins, but find the interface makes it easier to get good results without too much messing around in PS (I use ACR or Aperture for my RAW import, not LR). Nearly every adjustment in deNoise has sliders, and you can save presets derived from their very useful range of default settings.

One thing that I really needed recently was NR that plays well with both the Bayer filtered sensor on the OMD and the Fuji XTrans on the X20, and this one fits that description. I get very little of the artifacts that you sometimes see from aggressive NR or sharpening with the X series cameras, although under exposure still seem to produce files with some "watercoloring" (just IMHO).

I really like the combination of Topaz deNoise plus Alien Skin Exposure color mapping, sharpening and grain, and Alien Skin Blow Up to adjust for larger print sizes without much futzing around.
