Fuji S9600, as it does still a good job, but i'm looking out for a mirrorless (the Nikon 1V2 is my favourite now)

Fuji X100s. Maybe also the X-Pro1.

I can not vote, as X100s really does not fall into any category offered... (not really a compact, not interchangeable lens...)

I love the pics from the DP's I see posted. But I'm scared of the low ISO. It certainly limits the possibilities.

How do you Merril-philiacs deal with sketchy light?

None of the above.

The SLR (with full-sized lenses) is my small camera.

My big camera is a Linhof 617 and a technical field camera with movements.

Mind you, I shoot most things with the SLR, because it's so much more convenient, and you can get better image quality than the large cameras by stitching, if the subject allows you to.

Just waiting for someone to release a medium-format CMOS sensor with good live view that doesn't require the use of ND filters.

I never got around to getting a pistol grip for my old 8x10. Would've made hand-holding so much easier...

A tripod and a sturdy head makes a perfectly good over-the-shoulder grip!

Canon G1X.  It's rarely far from me and is very capable.  There are times when I just use my iPhone and don't feel I've short-changed myself.

Micro Four Thirds.  Currently the Panasonic GX1.

Maybe soon, the GX7.   ::)

Fuji x100s and x-pro one. I even do paid staff with them.
I have become highly excited with these two cameras as well as my old x100.
Emotionally attached like a kid with its first teddy bear...
have not felt like like this with any slr all these years.
Too emotional? Maybe, but I know others who fall in love with the x series too.
Its all in the viwefinder

i voted "mirrorless".

the gx1 is actually the camera i use the most.
the SLR comes out for "special occasions" where i really need its advantages. in all other cases, m4/3 is just so much more convenient.
i also have a waterproof panasonic compact, just to have something always with me that's really hard to destroy  ;)

GX1, G1X, X-Pro, XE1, RX1, RX100, LX7 ... has anyone ever heard of a camera with the letter Y in it's name?

Mamiya, Yashica...  But that's not what you meant, is it? You mean the model?  Hmm...

Yashica Lynx
Yashica Super YXL-100
Yashica Super YXL-1
Mamiya Ruby
Mamiya Myrapid
Mamiya Mammy
Kodak Brownie Hawkeye

Pretty thin on the ground.
