I have been to http://www.kenko-pi.co.jp/horseman/e/digital/VCCPRODB/index.html and seen the details of a VCC Pro [DB] but I cannot find any information about pricing or dealers.

You will see the view camera converter allows digital backs to be attached directly and the set-up can be used with a variety of lenses. I want one with a Hasselblad V mount.

I would like to know if this a current product and who sells it? Adorama & B&H only have versions for attaching Nikon and Canon DSLRs to.

Any info would be appreciated.

Hi Roger,

Panavision NZ Ltd used to be the agent for Horseman so they might be able to help. Ring 09 360 8766 and ask for Tim Timlin.

I use the Horseman VCC system with my Nikon D800 which is indispensable.

I also have the older Horseman VCC adaptor which can attach a Mamiya/Phase 645AFD camera which I will be selling soon if any one is interested?

Cheers

Simon

Thank you, Simon, for your replies.
Panavision last represented Horseman about 10 years ago and have no idea if Horseman is represented in NZ.

I went the Horseman USA site yesterday and tried to send a message through the enquiry page but the facility did not work!

B&H Camera and Adorama apparently stock Horseman products but do not list the [DB] version. I will send a customer enquiry to B&H or use their live chat when they reopen.

Generally frustrated how Komamura, Kenko and B&H do not show email addresses for themselves! I will check out Adorama.

Neat idea. Too bad the range of lenses is so limited. I'd love to try this with EL (enlarger lenses) for doing copy work.

Horseman VVC adaptor for my table top work, food, art reproduction and some car shots. This adaptor for me is indispensable the lenses I use on it are,

Rodenstock 60mm, 135mm, 150mm Rodagon lenses
Rodenstock 75mm, 80mm, 105mm, 120mm Apo Rodagon lenses

All these lenses I bought second hand on EBay and are fantastic.

When the Mamiya 645 AFDII camera is fitted the shortest focal length is the Rodenstock 105mm Apo Rodagon lens and up to the Rodenstock 150 Rodagon Lens. You can also mount LF lenses on it as well.

When consider that the only tilt shift lens available for the Mamiya/Phase system in the tele length is the Schneider PC TS Apo-Digitar 120mm f/5.6 lens which is well over $3,000.00 US the Horseman VCC I have for sale with the Mamiya 645 mount with it ability to rise and fall, shift, swing and tilt makes it a very versatile device.

So now you can use a 105mm,120mm macro,135mm and 150mm lenses with all the movements you would need for a fraction of the cost of the Schneider.

Cheers

So, Simon, if I had a VCC and put a Leaf Credo 60 back on it, do you have any idea what is the widest/shortest lens I could use with it?

I see you mention that with the Mamiya body you refer to, the shortest usable lens is 105mm. Why can you not go shorter?

Hi Roger,

The shortest focal length for the Mamiya 645 is the 105mm lens if you want to shot a infinity. Its because of the distance from the rear element to the DB sensor cause of the camera body.

If you used the Horseman VCC Pro DB you are attaching the DB straight the adaptor so you could use wider lenses but of course you would have to use live view on you DB back to compose your shot or you shot tethered.

Cheers

Thanks, Simon.

You could also use one of the ground-glass screen attachment and viewer combinations to compose your image and swap it for the digital back when you are satisfied (like for the Flexbody and Arcbody). LiveView is better cos of the ability to magnify the image but at the cost of battery life.

Just got to find out if the product exists!!!

I guessed an email address for Kenko and have real information from a real person:

"Dear Mr. Hayman,

"Thank you for your mail inquiring us VCCPro camera equipment.

"We are the manufacturers and exporters of Horseman brand cameras
and accessories worldwide. Attached is the price list offering you
Horseman product line including VCCPro. As for Hasselblad V mount,
we have none in stock now and about one month is required for shipment
after ordered.

"If you have any inquiry, please feel free to contact me.

"Best regards

"e-mail: ono@kenko-pi.co.jp"

I have attached the price list. The DB version is about USD1,265, which is not too bad? But the lens prices are!!!

Hi Roger,

I think you can use the cheaper Copal type shutter lenses on EBay which would be cheaper and don’t need power to work them.

Cheers

Would it be possible to adapt a Sony A7R for use with this camera?

I was thinking the same (A7r) if they did a version without having to use a canon/nikon adapter you would be able to use wider rodenstock lenses possibly down to 40mm (a guess not a fact based on sensor to lens mount distances at infinity) no representation here in the uk which is a shame as I expect they would sell more if you could see one at a dealers.
