Rob,
1973 was a year wasn't it?
When my hippy neighbor and friend, who had become one of those sort of stranded types, you know, the ones that didn't get the message in 67
well he had died and she was just bereft that the whole thing, including the remnants of her LA scene had succumbed with him,
Nixon then ford,
carter then reagan
your thatcher
jesus.
africa then persia south america piranitas
now with big $ floating it all
if you can sit through 20 seconds of what my house has been sounding like- the music starts at 1:50 or
good luckhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjvL8IUJbM0&list=RD022CG5XMuz_nY

Rocco,

I don't think I've heard helicopter guitar before. This is Apocalypse Now set to music.

If you can find the book Life, which is the Keef story by himself with help, you should give it a whirl.

With that song playing, you can go outside with an entire gang, you just holding an ice cream cone.

That pretty girl sitting in the corner with her boyfriend: your head screams don't do it! but your feet already walked the walk. Music is bloody dangerous! That's what's also wrong with the portable variety. Or in cars.

Couldn't live without it.

ok rob
I was in the little side village the other day, and aside from the usual coupla deer and a few mariposas etc,
there was a bush teeming with zippy little hummingbirds-
anyway these things weren't being so aggressive as to cause a general retreat by some,
but they all just sort of hovered around the bush, sort of circling like on a clock face, 5 or so of them and joined periodically by small songbirds, the songbirds were immediately set upon by the hummers,
weird,
they were just kinda playing around or something
usually they chase each other and bicker relentlessly.
My friend has an electric bike I use here and there to get to the side village in about 10 minutes!!!
lucky me
today I'll take the bark that I have collected from a 486 year old redwood to be used as shingling on a roof
and pick some blackberries for the tribal chair so as not to be empty handed at an inopportune moment,
I would also like some clients to come through in a big way and give me $$$
hahaha
so yeah boring office junk a little photography and a lot of just grunt labor to bring my mind to a pretty much empty switchboardhahaha
ok be good :)

Gulag - you picked the very last guy to explain anything to me.

He leaves me depressed, and wondering what hope there is for photographic art these days.

I rushed away from the computer last night to watch a show on the BBC - Culture - and I had to turn off half-way through. The front man and a female gallery person were looking at art from the great unwashed; an image they oooh and aaah over was a large photographic print of a room full of clutter. The best I can say is that the chap had money to spend - it was a large print. When the front man started to explain to us morons that the image was clearly an autobiographical statement I could stand no more. My own madness is, to me, preferrable to that of another, especially when I think he's lying through his teeth.

I didn't try to do that. This entire post-modern society of ours, according to Foucault, is in fact a colossal gulag. As I suggested earlier, a revisit the western intellectual history since the Renaissance will give you more insights into our unfreedom.  In the meantime, there are still those who are trying to be sane in the insane condition, and to be human in the inhuman condition. Let me quote Kander here.
