Palm Forest

The pattern was what appeals to me here, as well as the depth of the trees that you can just see in the shadows.  Opinions on whether the shadow detail needs to be lightened, darkened or just left alone would be welcomed.

Probably get stoned but..hey, dodging rocks is a fun way to start a morning.

As it sits, it is a interesting image and scene, seen from an angle most of us wouldn't think to use or have the opportunity in which to observe. Neat!

But, for me, it needed a little rotation to the left and a narrower rectangle to fully exploit the POV. I am quite sure with the original in hand, you can reduce the size of the trees back to where you originally had them.

Thus the shifted POV ;) Very Alain Briot. I think the left rotation and the reduction of the upper right corner helps, but I think it is a very interesting photo James; I think the shadows are right where they need to be. Cool shot.

the reduction of the upper right corner helps,

Excluding the corner makes for a more finished-looking image, but I kind of like nature a bit messy.

Nice edit.  I actually have several frames of the scene, a few of which are all palms, no other vegetation.  There's also another frame that's clean at the top, but with an orange tree in the bottom left corner that I'm partial too.  I really like the straightening of the trunks and especially the vertical pano crop.

Thanks to everyone else for the kind words!

James this is a wonderful image.
It captures the essence of rainforestness (not a real word!) very well.

To go to your original questions I would certainly not reduce the contrast in the image by lightening the contrast.
If anything I would go the other way a bit.
Dropping the shadows even more may not work but you have a great image anyway!
