Chris,
For me, it's a busy photo, maybe too busy. I need another dose of caffeine, I guess!

And for me as well but I really liked the interaction between the water, the plants and the reflections not to give it a shot. Titled Purple Flower and in color, I think the busy-ness still carries through. So, to all you super landscape photographers...any suggestions as to composing and exposing this differently?

I do like the color version, but FWIW, I adjusted with levels, applied a vignette, and added a medium contrast curve. Comes down to esthetics I think.

Appreciate the response, Dave. I have that and about five other iterations of this image..it is a matter of aesthetics, preference toward a type of contrast, etc. This is one of those images which falls into the "close, but no cigar" realm. I will reshoot, hopefully later in the afternoon.

Very nice work ! I would say color for the crop as is and B/W for more of a zoomed in
crop on just the leaves to capture there great texture and light.

Take care,

Chris, I think it is the harsh light that adds to that "busy" feel. Perhaps overcast or early morning. Also, "zooming in," concentrating on a smaller area, might help too.
