clouding over
« on: May 28, 2013, 12:20:11 am »

Unusual low cloud on Castle Hill here a while back.
Took this out of interest to see if it worked as an idea or not.
I'm tempted to crop the sky down to the cloud to remove the bare sky & coloured clouds & have just white cloud background? Any thoughts?

No! Don't lose any of the sky: it's the essence of the shot. If you really feel the need to crop, cut a bit off the land at the bottom, but I think it's just fine as it is.

I'm with Jeremy on the sky… Keep your photo it as it is!

Thank you both for the feedback.

I promise I will not touch the sky!   ;D

I'm with Jeremy on not cropping the sky and especially on his (surprising?) idea of not cropping at all. It's very fine just the way it is.

Very nice! You have seen things differently from 99% of photographers who want the dramatic clouds and miles-wide vista.

Thanks Russ & Peter,

Actually Peter, I have to admit I did try a few mile wide vistas ...but I kept coming back to the simplicity of the hillside as more appealing

Example mile wide vista attached  ;D

That one's good too, Matt, but not as good as the first one.
