Starting a short series from the Olympic Peninsula
« on: May 25, 2013, 04:59:53 pm »

I have been looking for that Zen moment...the sound of one hand clapping. I liked this because it reminded me of some Asian works of art: One Tree Leaning ;) Enjoy. Comments welcome as always.

#1 for me, it has lots of dynamics.

Yes it also has to be #1 for me - it is simple, classic and a great composition.

Very nice work! I am envious, the Olympic Peninsula is such a glorious place. I was there only once, many years ago and before I became a serious photographer. I would love to go back.

A few more. For the first, I have trouble with the intensity of the green, but that's what I remember; not the strongest compositionally, I think, but it reflects the day.
EDIT: I just looked at these and the color is way off; too much wine?

I love the first oneā€¦ Bravo!

Not sure how you managed to get those weird colors in the last three photos. Are you sure that it was red wine and not antifreeze?  :D

I see it as well. The weird, green colours, that is. And I'm using Firefox on a colour managed monitor on a PC running Windows 7.

I am wondering if there are different color renderings at different websites or perhaps it is entirely me. In LR/PS, that green is not so very saturated, but it is also tinted wrong. Maybe WB is off somehow.

I hope somebody is enjoying my buffoonery :'( I had some weird WB that was giving me fits and the goofy tints. Fooled my eyes completely and wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes :o Anyway, reposting, redone properly for your edification and amazement ;) Sometimes I's slow.

Jealous, but I'll be up there around July 7th for nearly a week. Love the first one.

Are these in the Port Townsend area, or farther west?

Head out from Port Townsend towards Port Angeles. You can stay on SR104 to US101, but I got off on SR20 and just kept wandering west. If I found an interesting side road, I took it to get off the main highway. Shot along the way.

I'm going up the western side of the peninsula, then along the top. I'm hoping I'll be able to hire a boat to take me places no roads go and get some different perspectives.

Try the sport fishing village of Sekiu or Neah Bay out on the tip. Both are on hwy 112 West of Port Angeles.
