ACR for PS/CS5 = ACR for PS/CS6?
« on: May 23, 2013, 04:33:08 pm »

Still a nubee here, and I finally found a half-decent book on ACR but it is for PS/CS5.  Can I count on it being the same (functionally - so the book is an accurate for understanding how it works) for my PS/CS6?

Thanks,
Tom

No...ACR 6.x for CS5 will not have some of the new tools found in ACR 7.x in CS6–in particular, Process Version 2012 which completely changes the basic panel sliders and offers enhanced functionality. ACR 6.w also didn't have the enhanced Defringe controls (although ACR 6.7 does have the auto CA removal button). What book did you get?

actually you will be better off by reading certain sections @ this forum and also the U2U forum @ forums.adobe.com/community/cameraraw ... I doubt there is any book or video that will provide you the same information that you can find by reading certain discussions here and there...

Well that is a bit disappointing Vlad, although on the plus side, one of the two authors of the book I found is the poster that first responded to my original post (Jeff Schewe), so that part is gratifying.  Jeff, is there a newer version of Real World Camera Raw with Adobe Photoshop CS5 - Industrial-Strength Production techniques"? (That should answer the question that you asked Jeff.)

Thanks again guys,

what is disappointing ? I 'd take this  http://www.luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=11048;sa=showPosts  vs any book or video about ACR any time

What is disappointing is that I wasted money on a book.  Thanks for the tips though - you aren't disappointing.

Sorry...no. The publisher and I decided not to do a new edition...but I did do an all new book called The Digital Negative that you might find useful.

Thanks Jeff.  You are not the only individual to recommend that book.  I'll go get ASAP.
