No Minis here, thank goodness; not even Austin A35s nor Vauxhall Vivas. Amen.

So much has been lost. Who will be snapping this century's passenger cars because they looked good? I can tell you now: only the anal, the demented historian or the insane.

Very nice photos! I never saw so many american cars in Italy… Is is something like a club of american car lovers?

Rob is right, contemporary cars won't let much memories...

Watch La Dolce Vita.

Rob C

Thanks Rob! I've watched La Dolce Vita a very long time ago but my memory is really bad and except for a very fuzzy image of Anita Ekberg and can't seem to remember anything about it...
I'll try to find some free time and a DVD!

Man, you have problems!

There was nothing fuzzy about Ekberg! Well, she fell out of her dress (facing the wrong way) during the nightclub scene where the guy has her spinning up in the air above his head - no mean feat!

In the film there's what I remember as a huge convertible (can't remember what, either - same problem as you) in which Marcello takes Anouk Aimee's character and a hooker to the hooker's flooded flat where they ask the lady of the night to let them use her bedroom... there's a Thunderbird involved twice: at the scene where the kids claim to have seen the Virgin - I think just before the rain starts - and also during a 'chase' through the streets, probably on the way to the villa in Fregene where the movie ends.

Probably my favourite movie. The video I had stuck itself together because of age and dampness...

I've never had a good memory for films. For me, remembering Anita Ekberg even in a fuzzy or hazy way is a performance. I'm much better with "static" things such as photos, articles or books… I never claimed to be perfect!

Great shots of La Ekberg, and also the car with Mastroianni and Anouk Aimee!

The Trevi I know, but what's the car - is it a Cadillac? C'mon, you USA buffs with functioning memories! Maybe if one could see the grille...

It looks like a 1958 Cadillac Series 62, see here.

From lookng at the tail fins behind the lady, I think Francois nailed it.

I think so too - even the little side window next to the A-pillar is identical.

Good detective work!

Rob C

P.S. I think that the fins and tail lights on the '59 Coupe de Ville are the best it ever got. And in black, majestic!
