Thanks Fred.
And here's a video of it in action with the FPS

As with everything, you get what you pay for. The Gigapan is (in my opinion) clearly engineered and built to deliver it at a price point under $1000, and it shows. Don't get me wrong - I think for the money, it's a very good device, but the Seitz is in a totally different league. As it should be - with the full firmware package unlocked it's around 6x the price of the Gigapan.
Not relevant for MF, but the Seitz can fully control certain Nikon and Canon cameras over USB for pretty much unlimited HDR options. Their attention to detail on firmware is unrivaled.
Case in point - a couple of months ago, I was discussing with someone about how I have a spreadsheet that calculates minimum shutter speed for shooting in "speed mode" without getting any blurring. Speed mode is when the VR Drive head moves continually, rather than stopping for each shot. They forwarded the discussion onto Seitz, and 2 weeks later, a new firmware was released that took that calculation inside the VR Drive itself. Now when you set up a program, it tells you what minimum shutter speed you should be using.
Software-wise, the XML output that Fred mentions is a great aid to Autopano (the program I use for stitching).
Bottom line, how do I like it?
I rank it right up there alongside the best kit I own - my ALPAs. But that shouldn't really be surprising, seeing as Seitz actually are ALPA's manufacturing partner!
Kind regards,
Gerald.
