Win 7 and .ORF files
« on: May 18, 2013, 12:55:46 pm »

Not for the first time I today downloaded the MS codec pack, (16.4.1734.1104) 64 bit version and ran it. It correctly identified that the codecs were already present and offered the "repair" option. On completion I rebooted and, to no surprise at all, discovered that the .ORF RAWS were still seen as generic icons: this almost a year after my first attempt.

Anyone managed to get this to work?

How I hate using 3rd party cataloguing facilities (LR, I'm looking at you) when I've had half a lifetime of managing huge numbers of files via the OS.

Edited: Wasn't sure whether this might belong in the DAM board.
Edited again. Possible conflict with Olympus Viewer resources? Lightroom?

what is wrong with 3rd party apps that behave just like windows explorer for that matter ? like xnview (free) and similar... then there are paid codec packs if you are so adamant about using explorer = like http://www.fastpictureviewer.com/codecs/

Thanks for this utterly useless, pointless non-contribution.
You wouldn't like to hear what I'm thinking right now. Is there an "ignore" option on LL?
