The geek's answer to attention deficit disorder.
God, I so detest living in a world designed by geeks.
We can't put the phone down,
because whatever the phone has to say
is apparently infinitely more interesting
than the people we engage with directly...
And because it is somehow awkward to be hunched down over your electronics while engaging in conversation, we decide to build glasses… The less we learn to converse, the more we will need that.
We learn to communicate
so we can ask for directions as needed,
in the meantime we overload the brain
with irrelevance,
We wear glasses to fill our vision,
because whatever we have designed and created
as a context for our lives, is apparently not beautiful
nor informative enough by itself.
And we wear headsets to bombard our ears,
because whatever we did to move the air
which not its beauty leaves us breathless,
it needs to be masked by sounds much louder.
There are times and places where those glasses could be relevant. Military Helicopter pilots come to mind as they have been using these for years, sized appropriately so as not to be usable in public ;-) So it may be useful for interaction with other inanimate objects and devices, but I find it highly suspect in the context of interaction with human beings...
