Which Tele-Zoom to use

I will be making a trip to the Palouse and will be renting a long Zoom to take along. For those who know the area, which focal length zoom range would be the most usefull--70-200, 100-400,--what would be recommended?

Overall, I'd say the 100 - 400 would be better; more composition options, particularly from Steptoe Butte during magic hours. My first visit there was with a 70 - 200 and I felt somewhat limited.
