The most interesting is the third, where the hats are not "just hats", but a real subject.

As one who has great difficulty keeping baseball cap glued to head (alternative to bandana - require a different sunline on the head) in a moderate breeze, I am driven to enquire how Stetson is kept in contact with head in windy weather. It used to interest me even as a child: those 70mph horses, lots of guns going off, but not a hat went missing in action unless via a bullet. I'm sure it can't be a string! No, never! Elastic? No, that would probably cause one to lose face even more rapidly than string. Tobacco spit?

I believe that in such weather the hat stays in the truck.
