Snaking Branches in Morning Light - Briones
« on: May 04, 2013, 11:43:33 am »

I need input on two subtly different versions of an image.

Version A

Version B

Which do you prefer?  Please only respond if you're viewing on a calibrated monitor.

#1

More natural looking.

The other one is more contrasty and saturated. aggressive, crunchy... However, without the comparison, it might stand well on its own just as well.

I think there should be more shadow in the image, and like Slobodan, I prefer the first of the two.

I vote for the first, too.

I think most buyers would prefer A, the higher contrast version.

There's no real difference, only a nuance that would probably be meaningless in a print.

They're still different, stack 'em up in PS.

The difference is a similar to what you get from tilting the monitor to pick up a different amount of ambient room light.  And late evening, slumping head heights need to be considered as well.

That's what I found and I had to use calculations in PS to convince myself that those two photos were not identical.
