Red-legged Honeycreeper (Costa Rica)

I would have loved a little more eye contact here. But I liked the natural perch and the amazing plumage of this frisky little guy.

You mean he refused to obey your directorial instructions? Naughty Honeycreeper!   :D

But still a stunning photo, as usual.

The glittery head of that little guy is wonderful.

Well done, as usual!

As always, a beautiful shot of an exotic bird.
Do you "arrange" perches near attractions such as feeding station or running water bath, and photo from a blind? You always have such lovely creamy out-of-focus backgrounds. In my limited experience of photographing birds in situ (midwest USA), I find it very difficult to get good backgrounds for forest canopy birds. On the other hand, I tend to walk around a lot to find a busy spot with decent light, and then just settle down without a blind.

I do sometimes do as you suggest. But with this little guy I just got lucky and this was not a setup in any way :-)

I like the way the curve of the bird's body mimics the curve of the branch. Another very good photo.
