Someone replied in another forum I am part of and they said the purge ink is only for when you have air in the line and you need special cartridges to do it.

Yes, setup cartridges I believe.  I couldn't remember if this could be done by a user or had to be a technician, but yes, mainly having to do with getting air out of the lines then running ink through.

Are you having any luck with the head cleanings?

I just remembered a trick I used to do with a printer that had clogs.  Look at the diagnostic printout and see which colors are the worst.  Make an image using mainly just that color and print it several times, basically forcing the printer to push the ink.

Sometimes it works, it can't hurt at any rate.

I'd print, print, then head clean, and continue until I got it.  In this case the sheet was usually an 8x10, but you could do larger, for example a 13 x 19  with a large yellow square on it if yellow is the clog, etc.

Like I said, can't hurt to try.

Yea thanks

I think Im back up to speed.

I printed a few and it seems to be printing fine. The diagnostic image seems ok except for the gloss...which is blurry on some lines and some lines fainter than others. Some lines are slanted...some are straight thought. I guess some nozzles on the gloss head are clogged?

Ill keep on printing and see if I can get it totally working

THanks for the help!

Great - I'm glad things are beginning to turn around.  Often that is the case.  Keep coaxing it - keep making prints or make those color sheets.  It would be nice to have an image which contained all the ink cartridge colors in squares which might help as a diagnostic tool, but I've never seen one.  It gets complicated too, as colors are the result of ink combinations.

If it was me, at this point, I'd begin making some prints that I might want to share - like family photos or anything that could be given away, etc., just so as to not feel like I'm wasting ink and paper, and I'd print, print, print until the printer is working more or less normally.

Then, of course, I'd keep printing and exercising it.

Considering you thought you were screwed in the beginning, it's come a long way.  Congratulations - keep at it - don't slack off at all - get that baby singing!

Best -
