BM Pocket first footage
« on: April 27, 2013, 08:28:58 am »

The first frames shot with the new BM Pocket cam.
The definition of "film look" means different things to different people, to me it's saturation, film has nice rich colours but not at the expense of tonality.
These I believe have been graded flat for max DR.
That's the thing with me in the film v digital argument, can you get that over saturated look of film without clipping channels and losing DR.
I have no doubt you could push this much closer to look like film as it is it looks just like video.

Wow!  Very nice piece, and it sure does look good up there on the screen!  This Changes Everything.

Is it a pain in post?

It's a pain all around, and the pain will probably never go away. But all things considered, it's worth it.

I'm curious about the tripod mount on top. Any ideas as to its use?

Cheers,

I think it's to attach accessories, the tripod bush is on the bottom, as it should be.

Top handle, microphone, small HDMI monitor, a candle for low light imaging...

No idea I've not used one yet...got one on order.
Coming from a stills background everything vidoe is a pain, space it takes, time it takes, getting a pro quality all a pita.
