The Exploratorium museum in San Francisco (exploratorium.edu) will open its new location on Pier 15 in San Francisco tomorrow, 17 April 2013. This is a $300 Million dollar project, and greatly increases the exhibit space and ease of access for visitors (much easier public transport options and parking). The waterfront location, the architecture, and the exhibits are all amazing, and I encourage everyone with any interest in science, art, experimentation, tinkering, and beautiful views to come out for a visit.

They have selected eleven of my scanning electron micrographs of microbes to form a large (12' x 4') permanent exhibit in their Life Sciences Hall (The East Gallery). Here is the image. There is more information available on the display and these organisms (as well as a higher resolution image) on my webpage (kevinjcarpenter.com). Enjoy.

That's some macro lens you've got there!  1:1?  2:1?  More, you say?  Wow...
