Racetrack Playa in Death Valley
« on: April 16, 2013, 05:21:11 am »

I took a few friends camping over the weekend (04/13) to Racetrack Playa in Death Valley. Here's one of the sunset shots I took during the trip. I left the white balance to "Cloudy" by mistake but I kind of like the unusual colors it produced so I didn't even bother correcting them in post. What do you guys think? Should I adjust the color and/or color tempreture to make it look more like a regular or stock photo?

Colour, texture, light, movement, perspective, technique: this one ticks all my boxes.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll leave it alone. I'll never know if I'll like the image with the correct WB. :)

Although this image turned out great by mistake, lately I've been somewhat experiemental when it comes to processing images...pushing it to be a bit more different but not overcooking it. I just don't want my images to look like good stock photos anymore. Nothing wrong with stock photos, but I just want to go to a slightly different direction...if that makes any sense. I also hope that I learn how to balance what's tasteful and what it not when it comes to creating images. I think going too far with PS can create some whacky images...but to each his own.

Thank you, sdwilsonsct. I'm glad you like it. I shoot for my presonal enjoyment so I wasn't sure how others would view or like how this image turned out.

Colour, texture, light, movement, perspective, technique: this one ticks all my boxes.
