Snow ocean

Record cold and snowfall in Saskatchewan this "spring". The last picture is just to set the scene. All from this week.

Guess I will have to quit moaning about the weather on the east coast.  Thanks for the reminder.

They stir thoughts in me of sand rather than water. I like the third in particular but it looks as if some noise reduction is in order.

#2 for me, I llike the shadows, texture, and warm tones.

I like them all but the first three are very nice. The first image could have been taken from space, far above the Earth. Image #3 features those smooth curves slightly reminiscent of Antelope Canyon.

I'd rather have snow than the ice we are getting here in Southern Ontario today.

A very good series. I realise these were made late in the day, but I wonder if the first three could use some brighter highlights to give them more "zip". Even an "Auto" click in LR4 gave #2 a bit more life. This second one in particular has great potential: with cropping some of the top and bottom, it becomes an aerial photograph of snow-covered mountains.

Jeremy -- thanks for pointing out the noise. I thought about it at the time of capture. Light changing fast, no time for a tripod, upped the ISO. I am surprised by the amount of noise at ISO400 on the 50D.

Yes, the close-ups call sand to mind, but the big picture feels oceanic to me.

Paulo, Francois -- thank you. I agree about the mountains. Better break out the tripod and get some DOF.

Terry, yes the close-ups were after sunset so I have held off on the brightness. I'll have another look with your comment in mind.

Enjoy the seashore, Chuck!
