decent cheap external monitor for laptop..road use
« on: April 01, 2013, 12:24:08 pm »

Hi folks,

I need a decent, cheap monitor to do basic work on images on while on the road.

I have a 1st version Macbook pro that has a matte screen and I need to be able to rough in images and be able to send stuff to clients etc..where I can know they look at least halfway decent from a color, and mainly, contrast aspect. Most of this is basic rough in coming out of Lightroom 3.

Small size is fine and I dont have a calibration system of any kind for flat screen montiors..Im still using my oh so trusty Sony Artisan at my studio, loving it still.

Just trying to get stuff in the ballpark

Used suggestions are great as are decent new products..thanks.

Pete

My experience of cheap was a HannsG JC199 - a 5:4 AR 1280x1024px for my desktop which was fine. My experience of less cheap is a NEC MultiSync LCD1990SX which is cr@p by comparison, oddly enough.

So there it is, not a statistically significant experience but, as they used to say where I'm from, "owt's better than nowt, lad".
