I Love This Photo
« on: April 01, 2013, 09:27:10 am »

Jim Pascoe posted this photo on LL a couple of weeks ago. I asked if I could show it on my blog. The rest is history. http://goo.gl/AII9T

I felt it was a stunning photo the first time I saw it, and I still do.
Now Jim Pascoe has joined Bob David at the top level of dog photographers, IMHO.

Hey guys - steady on, I'm only an average photographer really - just got lucky here.  If I had a commission to photograph a dog I would probably mess up.

In fact perhaps the highest praise I ever had for a picture was another monochrome image I entered for a local competition.  The judge was Tony Clarke FRPS who is a Londoner and well known for his slightly colourful language.  He described my picture as "....the dogs bollocks".  In fact it was two distant trees on an otherwise bare, snow-covered mountainside, with not a dog in sight.  I had called it 'Two Trees' but since that day it has always been known by it's new title - 'The Dogs Bollocks'.

Here you are Eric.  The original was a print and it relies on being so high key that it is only on close inspection that you can see all the ski trails and detail in the snow.  Not sure how well that will come across in the version I am posting here, but it will give you an idea.

Nice one, Jim. My only quibble is that they don't look very dog-like.  ;)

Wow..This looks so realistic..Well did..Just loved this photo..Can i copy this from here?

Well I would rather you didn't copy it - that's why Bob kindly put a copyright notice on the picture, just in case anyone didn't realise it did belong to a photographer.  However, I do sell pictures for a living so you could buy a copy if you wish - I see you may be a web designer.
