Dog
« on: March 22, 2013, 07:09:05 am »

I'm not a doggy sort of photographer, but having just photographed two little boys in the New Forest I was quite taken by their dog who was looking out of their Land Rover.  I took several shots and was really taken by his expressive eyes.  I realise that his nose is a tad out of focus.

Why is it that dogs love sticking their heads out of the windows of moving cars, but hate it if you blow in their face?

Nice photo BTW

you need a mint. (or a liver treat)

I like this dog portrait because it is treated with the care and attention that you would treat a human model.  Lighting is crafted elegantly.  The framing is original and effective.  The mud lines on the vehicle add a bit to the story...is this a hunting dog?  You nicely caught tonality in the eyes.  The duotone is a good choice.

Not sure what type he is - but this is a picture I had taken earlier when he was making a nuisance of himself while I was photographing the children.  Thank you for the comments.

Very elegant dog portrait (the first post, not the snapshot).

Well said, this is also why I like this portrait very much. It's a splendid image.

Eric and Francois

Thank you for your kind words.  Perhaps it was that 'human' character feeling I had which was prompted me to take the picture.  It's not often I photograph dogs.

Dog breeds aren't my thing, but it looks something like a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.  The portrait image is very well done.

I like how the dog is framed within the confines of the window and open air but I'd toss the white outline as it seems to confine that which you are trying to convey.

This is a great image. The lighting is awesome, the pose is good and the Landy seals it for me, well done.

Hi Chris

A bit of laziness on my part really.  The image file I uploaded was one I used for projection at our local camera club, so it needed to be 1400x1050 and needed a white key-line to prevent the edges of the image merging with the black border.
