I thought the same thing Rob.
Great light and tonality along with exquisite location and subject matter.

A winner all around.

Add my vote!

I'm beginning to worry that the Mexican air is so much improving your creative vision that you'll be reluctant to head back north at some point.

Keep 'em up. I always check the Home Page shot on a daily basis. It's good for the soul.

Actually Michael I think a lot of us hang out for those posted images.
We don't just stumble onto them we actively search them out.
I check the home page every time I come onto the site.

BTW it is a stunner!

Not only we do (notice it), but we also lament the fact there is no gallery with previous entries. Or maybe I have not dug deep enough into the menus?

+1. On the other hand the ephemeral nature of the images might increase their impact.

Great image!

I always feel the reporter in all Michael works.

If I had a word to resume Michael's singularity it would be: witness.

The home page photograph is always the first place I go. I have been thinking lately how beautiful and deep the colours are in Michael's images  :)
What a fine and subtle composition "Alone" is.

At the moment this appeared the first instant was feeling the powerful bashfulness wrapped within that small innocent body...and then the transmigration began....the curtains of wall light unable to overcome a depth of gravity growing in the weight of misdirected mankind. The mirroring shape of the young man's aura to the right moved back and forth to transfigure him ...the overwhelming sense that this weight being carried the reality of a young generation caught in the losses, resignations and disappearances of what should be a bright and hopeful world for all our children. The tears flow along the wall for us all.

I could live with this fine poem, printed small, framed in an austere manner, hung in the upper center of a large vacant whitewashed wall in a sleeping/waking room in such a way that my eyes and consciousness would light there first each day to encourage me to be a better person in all my interactions with others through the day. If we could somehow find that and in awareness carry it forward, could there still be hope for their futures....

A true gift Michael. I do not wish to lose it, and damn, you've brought me to tears at the thought.

Maybe the young boy was just protecting his eyes from a wasp that was buzzing around.  ;D

I really enjoy your street work, and this is no exception. I would never complain of only seeing it, but I do miss seeing your landscape work. Maybe I'm just nostalgic, but that is what really hooked me on to this site, and on to you as an artist.

Thanks for sharing.

Wow, Michael! I didn't look closely enough at what had been posted and started a new thread to tell you how much I like this photograph. It's a fine piece of work. That's looking. That's seeing! Bravo!

You know what would be nice? As the frontiers in the imagery are merging and many photographers are doing video as well as videographers are doing photography,

that MR from time to time would upload a short video instead of stills. Let's say for 10 stills one video.

I'd really like to enjoy Michael's reportaje habilities in some moving images.

And as he has the tools and seems to enjoy the editing, it wouldn't be an hassle but much fun to do.

Now that, Fred, is too radical: it would mean changing Luminous Landscape to Illuminated Landscape.

Hey, that's the natural evolution no?

One is first luminous, and becomes iluminated.

Think about this: if Michael had 25 today and work as
A reporter, he would deliver both stills and videos.
And MR has always been young because instead of
Being stucked into a period, he always bite into
Cutting-edge tech and tools. I see it.

Also, there is this fcpx. It Seems to be a no-brainer and
Fast app. Imo, if the cine crowd is not going to use it, it appears
To me perfectly suitable for people who'd like to go
Video but are intimidated by harsh learning-curves or
Astronomical costs.

I see tutos of fcpx, and short films as the pic of the day.

The only prob would be bandwith.

Yes, I make a point of going to the front page every couple of days to see the shot. I still remember one of my favorites with 3 stumps pointing at an angle out of a sand dune, their shadows making another angle. It was wonderfully Zen. IIRC the 3 stumps were in a V shape, the shadows also making Vs with the stumps.

I like this shot also, its "the human condition" as Picard used to say on Star Trek.
