There is also http://www.mdisc.com/ as an alternate to the standard CD & DVD media technology. Hopefully there will be a Blu-Ray version soon as well.

According to them, the Blu-Ray version will be out very soon. The Blu-Ray M-Disc will have the advantage of being writable by any Blu-Ray writer. The first generation DVD M-Disc required a special burner.
