Epson 7900 Ink Usage on Canvas
« on: March 18, 2013, 08:34:11 pm »

Can someone give the ink usage and print size on their last canvas print.
I'd prefer Breathing Color but any canvas should get me in the ball park.

I'm building a spread sheet for ink and paper costs. I'm also assuming that canvas uses different amounts of ink than say GFS. I may have assumed wrong.

I have one for my 3880 and it was an immense help in determining my true costs in a print.

It will be tweaked it once I start printing canvas, but just need this as a starting point.

Thanks, Jimmy

I've done several hundred canvas prints on Fredrix 777 in the past couple of years on my 9900, including may 40x60 and larger prints. Ink consumption on the canvas was similar to a print on Prem. Luster for a similar size print ranged usually from 1 to 2 ml per square foot for most. There may be more consumption if you tweak the total ink Color Density slider toward "+" in the paper configuration controls, but I think it may be fairly insignificant in the overall ink consumption on a per-print basis.

It doesn't take anymore ink than a paper on the same media setting. What media setting does BC advise for its canvases?

On the 3880, the Print Watcher utility creates a fairly accurate log of each ink for each print. It is exportable in CSV format for import into any spreadsheet program.

Thanks, this looks like its about the same as what GFS uses. I haven't had time to compare as I work nights and we are in the middle of a seven day/12hr work week.
