almost got 1 Allens (or rufous) hummer
« on: March 17, 2013, 02:36:22 pm »

happy spring
the swallows have returned to dazzle with aerobatics,
squabbling redwing blackbirds deliver a background symphony,'
the sparrows wrens hawks and vultures-flickers and woodpeckers
they all have their little piece of the homeplace staked-
this little thing will probably build its nest on my porch-
I have many photos of the darn things but it is hard to focus-
ahem
well here' she is ready to hatch out some babies-

Lovely capture!  We have a hummingbird feeder mounted on the other side of our kitchen window, above the sink, and their visits are an integral part of our day!

Thank you for looking.
In the beginning of this world there was a great flood, and Ohlone people
believe there were three great beings that started the world we have now.
Eagle, coyote and hummingbird.
In fact it was hummingbird that told coyote to try making babies with his mate in the belly rather than in several other parts of the anatomy.
First coyote tried the knee, then the elbow, then the back of the neck...
it took hummingbird's explanation and prompts for coyote to start the human race again.
And they will lead you to water if you know how...
I love birds, and hummingbird is my favorite to try and see.
Thanks again
