I'm not sure about the composition, I get the idea but there isn't enough in the foreground to keep my attention neither is there in the background due to the shallow depth of field.

The patterns in the backlit kelp are really nice, as is the chaos of seaweed surrounding it. Closer might have been better. A little higher to avoid the reflections behind? Worth returning to.

For me, that big brown nipply thing in the lower right is too similar to the backlit kelp. I think the advice to reshoot, recompose, and revisit is all great. If it was me, I would want to play with different DOF (shallower) to emphasize the yellow kelp, but not so far that the background was completely blurred.
