At least at this scale, you did a better job of photographing the planter and the fence than the succulent.

They're all in the same focus; the nifty-fifty ensured that given the distances involved. I did play with this crop but it really doesn't serve to change the lack of bokeh. I am going to shoot it again today at 1.8 to see if I can create some visual differentiation.
