Very nice shot. I particularly like the watch detail that could be saying lots about the young man's regimented world. Good street shots show and tell much more than the surface reality.

I really like the jewel like bokeh in the background tree/bush. Must be a good quality lens you have used here Russ to produce such a nice circular effect in the highlights, as opposed to the more angular iris effect one normally sees.

Really? All it says to me is that he likes to be able to find out easily what time it is. Succumbing to over-interpretation is an ever-present danger.

I'm more interested in what seems to be the cable leading to the girl's earphones.

I suppose one mans opinion is another's over-interpretation. I find that the best street photography tells a story based in large part upon the viewers experiences with the picture's content. The more universal that experience is, the larger the audience that can delight in the content.

Right, Dave. That was my beloved 50mm f/1.4 on the D3 -- wide open  at ISO 3600. Actually, those are tiny lights on the tree. It was December, near Christmas time.

And Jeremy, if I remember correctly the girl had on some really weird earrings. I think that "cable" is  one of them.
