Lee Foundation Kit
« on: March 10, 2013, 03:18:27 pm »

So i've been searching to purchase one of these for an upcoming trip and I can't seem to find these anywhere. Is this usually the case with this foundation kit? Will the Cokin Z-Pro filter kit be a good replacement instead of the Lee Foundation Kit? If you have used either and can let me know the difference in quality and which would be your choice system I'd very greatly appreciate it.

If you also know of a place that has the Lee Foundation kit in stock and don't mind letting me know I'd appreciate that too :)

Cheers!

Hi,

Where are you located? It's on stock in the Netherlands here, and here.

Cheers,
Bart

Thanks Bart and PhotoEcosee! I live in the US so getting them shipped out of the Netherlands or the UK and reach me by the 14th of March might work out to be too expensive, but I'll give them a try. Thanks for the links!

B&H Photo
Amazon /Adorama
Allen's Camera Levittown,Pa.

With regards to Lee.
You have to get the lens adapter for each lens of a different size. (If you use more then one lens.)
I got a half dozen Lee filters from Allen's but almost everything from Lee is back ordered.
You just have to check around to see what folks have.

Thank you Dan! However, I'd already checked with all the dealers you've listed above and none of them had it in stock. And neither do they have an estimate of when they will get their next shipment. Seems to be more manufacturer related than anything else. What's funny is they seem to have the adapter in stock while the kit is out of stock. I'll keep looking around. Thanks again!

Check at 2filter.com, they are based on the east coast and also known as the Filter Connection. They get them regularly.

If you are looking for a filter system for ultra-wide angle lenses (Nikon 14-24 and the Canon 17mm T/S), here is an option.

Have you looked into the Fotodiox "WonderPanna" system? It is getting very high marks from photographers; seems to be a better (more robust) design and solution (no vignetting) - and it is cheaper - than the Lee system!. See the discussion here:

http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1142973

See the system here:

http://fotodioxpro.com/index.php/camera-photo-accessories.html?cat=114

and a nice in-depth review here:

http://fstoppers.com/fstoppers-reviews-the-fotodiox-wonderpana-system-for-wide-angle-lenses

And a couple more so-so reviews:

http://www.nagelphotography.com/blog/2012/10/fotodiox-filter-for-the-14-24
========================
Anyway, I would go with the Fotodiox option rather than the Lee...
