The Nikon P7700 goes to Venice - an user review!
« on: March 07, 2013, 06:41:33 pm »

Hello everyone, I just posted my impressions on the P7700 on my blog A COMPACT STORY: THE NIKON P7700 IN VENICE! It's a very nice little camera packing a lot of punch in a small enough package. Here some images:

the rest in the review. Enjoy!

Nice images, thanks for sharing.

The 7700 sounds like a very competent camera with excellent image quality.

The DxOmark results show it to be pretty much on top of its class. But the only competitir is the G15. :)

I like #s 2 and 4, very evocative of the place.

Something not quite right with the exposures, I fear. But I am going to Venice next Friday - I'll have the D800E and my wife will be toting her P7100. I'll bet that you won't be able to tell the difference in quality between the SLR and the Compact in any photos at web resolution.

Hello Bernard,

thank you, I am glad you enjoyed! Indeed the P7700 is a very successful attempt at the "serious compact", after the P7000/P7100 which I'd call "beta" attempts...

Hello, I think the exposures are fine, can you please expand a little bit on this? About web size images, generally of course is true, but I just did a comparison between the Sigma DP1 Merrill & DP2 Merrill versus the Sony Nex-7 equipped with Sigma lenses, and surprisingly you can see a difference at web resolution as well: you can see it out HERE if you are interested.

Best,

Indeed, I can see the the Sigma's sharpness superiority with my 27" iMac.
Thanks for your blog. It is exceptional. Quite a test ground you have amico! :D

Hello Eduardo,

thank you for your comment, I am glad you enjoyed the blog!  :) As far as the test ground, I wish!  ;) Last time I went there, I brought a few cameras with me to test and try (P7700, Sony Nex-7 with 19mm & 30mm Sigma lenses, Sigma DP1 & DP2 Merrill); I will be there again soon, I hope, and who knows which cameras I will bring this time!  ;D
