Ask them about keeping the inks. My first 3880 came through with issues and they told me to keep the extra set.

Also, Epson will ask you to ship your original printer back with the inks in place.  Before you box up your original printer use the inks for the initial line charging of the refurb, then replace them in the original printer you are returning.  Then install the new set of inks that came with the refurb in the refurb and you wont have the cart levels sucked down by the line charging.  You might as well also swap the waste tank while you're at it.

Good idea!

New printer arrived today. I'm seeing noticeable roller marks with the Epson fiber paper and faint pizza wheels. I cut a piece of the 17x22 down to 16x20 and used the front feeder and the print is perfect. No marks or wheels. I think the paper is the issue. Seems that in order to print large prints with thicker paper you have to use the front feeder.

Does anyone know if it's possible to print 16x20 borderless with the front feeder? I didn't see the option in the printer module.

Sorry to hear that.  I do not see roller marks or pizza wheels printing 17x22 Epson Exhibition Fiber at the default settings on my 3880.

I should note the image I'm printing has a lot of black in it.

Btw, on my 3800 I would occasionally gat pizza wheel marks, maybe 5 dots.  Hard to see unless you looked at the print just right.  I hid them by rotating the print 180 degrees in the Epson driver, so the marks happened in the busy areas of the forground rather than in the sky so the were hidden.  That was for prints hanging I'm my home - for prints sold I reprintedif there were visible marks....

Last post on this and I'm putting it to bed. The new/ refurb 3880 does not exhibit the pizza wheels once the paper dries down but I'm still seeing roller marks with the Epson fiber paper when fed through the rear feed. I cut a piece of the fiber paper down to 16x20 and printed through the front feed and it resulted in a perfect print. Next, I printed a 16x20 image on 17x22 Ilford Gallerie smooth pearl paper via the rear feed slot and the resulting print is perfect. IMO the thicker Epson fiber paper does not do well when fed through the rear or top feeds. I know others have had better luck but I'm just reporting my results. Your mileage may vary. I will say that Epson has been fantastic to deal with and they sent me a replacement printer with very few questions asked and also offered to replace the Epson fiber paper I've used so essentially all I've lost is a little time but I feel like I really understand how the 3880 operates.

Good news Bob.  I earlier asked if you purchased a warranty and if your printer was out of warranty but you didn't reply to that. I'd be interested to know.

Mark

Sorry, re-read your initial post and answered my question.
