Sihl Masterclass
« on: February 22, 2013, 04:56:40 pm »

Does anyone have any experience with the Sihl Masterclass papers?  It looks from the specs like the B&W paper is the only one which is free of OBAs?

The Sihl 4852 and 4853 are free of OBAs and are quite related to the Epson Cold and Hot Press Natural qualities but single side coated. The 4848 has no OBA either. Which paper is classified as B&W?

The 4848

Strange, it only got a new name in my opinion, the paper is the same as the old 4804 that did not emphasize B&W as its focus. Nor did the Sihl representative mention that aspect when he brought me the Sihl Masterclass qualities. The Tecco Baryt Ivory BTI 290 gsm is close to the two mentioned here. A warm non-cotton baryte/fiber quality, few around. The B&W labelling is a trend these days and covers both warm and cold/neutral papers now.
