Epson Traditional Photo Paper?
« on: February 18, 2013, 08:51:14 am »

Saw a print on this at my local camera gurus store and looked quite nice.

Can't seem to find much info or critique on this paper though.

Can't even find ICC profiles on the Epson site.

Anyone got comments or experience on this stuff. Or profiles. Did look really nice, but then lots of stuff in the camera store looks really nice.

Thanks

Traditional Photo Paper could be something like Premium Lustre?

Epson Traditional Photo paper is the name in Europe for what is called Exhibition Fiber paper (EEF) here in the U.S.  Many photographers really like the initial image quality they obtain with this paper, but I would personally use it only if image permanence is not a major concern ...the initially cool/bright media white point yellows significantly with light exposure over time, more than can be explained by just OBA burnout alone.  Other inkjet papers in this same "traditional fiber" category like Canson Platine offer respectably bright whites (although not quite as cool/blue-white as EEF) along with the high luster finish yet with much superior media white point stability.

cheers,
Mark

So that's it, good ol' EEF afetr all.

No wonder it looked good. At least now.

Gawd I wish they wouldn't use different names for the same things in different parts of the world. What does it achieve?

Confusion in the market, accurate information can be deadly there.
-Acid and lignin free ECF, bleached chemically- is somewhere hidden in the specs.
-Minimal OBA- too, which is not true.

Innova IFA49, though 285 grams, comes close and there are more.
