Gray-breasted Mountain-Toucan (Ecuador)
« on: February 15, 2013, 11:00:16 am »

Another big highlight for me on my recent Ecuador trip was spending some time with this beautiful species of Mountain-Toucan. In all of my previous 9 months in Ecuador I had never seen this species so it was a real treat to have a pair hanging around one of the lodges that my group was staying at :-)

Camera Model: Canon EOS 7D
Shutter speed: 1/125 sec
Aperture: 8
ISO: 400
Lens: EF500mm f/4L IS USM +1.4x

Absolutely!
So, if I am reading your metadata correctly, effective focal length is 700 mm (1.4x500 with the teleconverter)?

No, I think it's 1,120mm: don't forget that the 7D doesn't have a full-frame sensor.

A beautiful bird Glenn.
This Toucan looks as if he might be a bit of a clown - perhaps he was as entertaining to watch as to photograph.

Amazing ... funny how colors on his/her beak mirrors the rear end!
