Last night my wife and I watched the film "Fargo," which is filmed in North Dakota and Minnesota. All through, the outdoor scenes kept reminding me of Chuck Kimmerle's photos (even though the film was in color). Spare, delicate landscapes, endless straight roads with regular rows of telephone poles along one side, with a thin layer of snow over everything.
Some scenes in the film came closer than anything else I've seen to the spirit of Chuck's landscapes. Stunning!
